Good to see Strome working on his skating. At least he is showing some work ethic.

The dman from Wisconsin is a sleeper player to watch.

I think Farabee is going to be here sooner rather than later. It wouldn't shock me at all to see him and Frost both break in at the start of 19-20. I also think Ratcliffe and perhaps Allison won't be that far behind.

Would you guys prefer Frost on the wing or in the middle?

He's best off at center, although perhaps he could shift to wing. To me, it's telling that when the Greyhounds put Barrett Hayton on Frost's line while Katchouk (Raddysh hadn't been traded there yet) was away at the WJC, Frost stayed at center while Hayton moved to wing and had one of his most productive scoring stretches of the season.

In fact, pretty much anyone put on Frost's line, including rookie Ryan Roth, saw their scoring pick up instantly.

That's why I'm incredulous whenever anyone tries to attribute Frost's season to his linemates. As good as Katchouk was, Frost was the No. 1 catalyst of that line.

I thought Allison was close and then the injuries hit. He has NHL size and skills.

Agreed, he has the vision and hockey sense of a center. A future line of him with Farabee and perhaps Allison, along with Patrick centering TK and Ratcliffe could be 2 very effective lines in a few year.

I agree with the take of de Haas. I was only there for one day, but he definitely stood out along with Friedman as the best 2 defensemen in their group.

Absolutely. If they don't re-sign Simmonds, he could certainly make the team in 19-20 if he has a good season this year followed by a strong camp and preseason in 2019

I would be cautious before reading too much into that. At 24, he's older than most of the other kids and probably more physically developed.

But hey, if he can become even an AHL/NHL tweener one day, he would have already exceeded any reasonable expectations. Friedman is an intriguing player. Not the biggest guy in the world but he's solidly built, skates well, has a good head on his shoulders and is not afraid to mix it up. Really looking forward to see how he does in year 2 at LHV.

I was really impressed with O'brien's motor and skill. Sandstrom and Hart stood out, by far, among the goalies as one would have expected. Ratcliffe is impressive with his size coupled with his skating and skill. He's a kid I am really interested in seeing how his Phantom's season goes.

I do wonder if he would have signed has his season ended in injury

not to mention just being more "polished" coming off of their first pro seasons. that said I was impressed with him in the 3 on 3 game

Ratcliffe isn't AHL eligible yet, he'll be back in Junior.

Anyone take notice of the Hertl deal? I think it looks pretty close to a comparable of what Konecny might get.

Oh, absolutely on de Haas. Just noting that he definitely stood out. But he could definitely help on what will be a depleted AHL defense this year.

Friedman reminds me a bit of Marc-Andre Bourdon. Solid, can be a bit feisty, and good in all 3 zones. If he can keep refining his game, I think he would make an excellent 7th defenseman, a la Manning/Alt.
